Mrs. Elizabeth E. Carnahan, 98, of Cadiz, Ohio and formerly of 980 Lillian Drive, Hermitage, Pa. died at 5:55 AM, Monday, December 22, 2003 at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz, Ohio. She was born in Shenango, Pa. on January 17, 1905 a daughter of the late George M. and Fannie McKenzie Frits. Mrs. Carnahan was a member of First United Methodist Church, Sharon, Pa. where she was a participant in the WCS and RWRW Sunday School Class and was a charter member of the Hickory Women's Club now known as the Hermitage ( PA ) Women's Club. She was a graduate of Grove City High School and attended Grove City College, Grove City, Pa. receiving her Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate and soon began teaching in a one-room schoolhouse in what is now the Wheatland ( PA ) School District. Survivors include a son : John W. Carnahan, Jr., Littleton, CO.; a daughter : Betty J. Hudson, wife of Rev. Dr. William H. Hudson, Cadiz, Ohio; a brother : George Frits and his wife Jane, Edinboro, PA.; 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and by an extended family that made it possible for Mrs. Carnahan to remain active : Wayne and Judy Miller, Parma, Ohio; Anne and Fred Corbin, Hermitage, PA.; Marge and Tom Clemens, Lake in the Hills, IL.; Robert and Margie Miller, Hermitage, PA., and several nieces. Mrs. Carnahan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband : John W. Carnahan, Sr. whom she married June 20, 1929 and who died February 18, 1987 ; by a brother : Clare Frits and two sisters : Esther Frits and Marion Miller.
