Eileen Vorhees

Eileen N. Vorhees, 87, of Hopedale, died Wednesday, May 04, 2011 at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz. She was born February 23, 1924 in Fernwood, Ohio, a daughter of the late David and Nellie Carpenter Dickey. Mrs. Vorhees was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Cadiz and was a former employee of the Western Union Telegraph Office in the General Custer Hotel in Cadiz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Vorhees in 2002 and a sister Gladys Mattern Reppart. Surviving are a daughter Karen (Wayne) Schonauer of Minerva; four sons Gary (Stella) Vorhees of Cadiz, Mark (Juanita) Vorhees of Camden, Ohio, Chuck (Michele) Vorhees of New Philadelphia and Scott Vorhees (Benjamin Nicholson) of Ft. Bragg, California; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Blackburn of Cadiz and a brother, Eugene (Jan) Dickey of Summerville, NC. Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, where funeral services will be held Friday, May 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. RJ Leek officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery near Hopedale. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrison Community Hospital Foundation, 951 E. Market St., Cadiz, OH 43907.
