Edwin Powell

Edwin M. Powell, 68, Cadiz, Ohio, formerly of Weirton and Wheeling, WV, died March 26, 2002 at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz. He was born February 1, 1934 in Beverly, Ohio a son of Lola Gaskins Powell Raines and the late Leonard Powell. He was retired employee of Weirton Steel, where he was a member of the Twenty Five Year Club, and attended the New Cumberland Free Methodist Church. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Alex Lendon. Surviving are his wife, Carol Grimm Powell; 2 sons, Robert of Weirton and Richard of New Cumberland; 1 daughter, Susan Sovinsky of Wheeling; 2 stepsons, James Sharp of Morgan City, LA and William Sharp of Coneaut, OH; 2 stepdaughters, Christine Gabel of Wooster, OH and Joyce Hetrick of Orrville, OH; 3 brothers, Leon Powell and Lawrence Powell, both of New Cumberland, WV and Jerry Powell of Jewett, OH; 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Friends may call Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, where Funeral Services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Irene Ford officiating. Burial will follow at Hines Cemetery near Cadiz.
