Dorita Elaine Billingsley, 69, of Hopedale, passed away on January 31, 2024, at Trinity West in Steubenville, Ohio with her family by her side. She was born May 26, 1954 in Steubenville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Melvin and Chick Byers and Harold and Dorothy Wickliff.
Dorita was a lifelong member of the Hopedale American Legion Auxiliary. She was a loving and proud mom to her two sons who meant the world to her. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend and will be remembered for always opening her home and welcoming family and friends. She was known for giving her time and listening to others with her nonjudgmental nature and offered her wisdom to many.
In her early years, Dorita was the lead Majorette of the Hopedale Comets Marching Band.
Dorita loved spending time outdoors and enjoyed arrowhead hunting, fishing, picking raspberries, and hunting for Morell mushrooms.
Dorita had a servant’s heart and spent her life helping others; she worked in home health caring for elderly patients for many years. She was devoted to her job at Catholic Family Land and found this to be the most rewarding job of her lifetime. Her Catholic Family was grateful for all she did in touching many lives.
Dorita was the most special wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend anyone could ever ask for. She spent her life doing everything she could to be there for her family and friends.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by a sister, Jan Byers.
Surviving is her husband, Bruce Billingsley, Sr.; her sons, Eric and Darren (Angie) Johnson; step-son, Bruce (Ashley) Billingsley, Jr.; brother Melvin Byers Jr. (Melanie); sister Cindy (Ron) Pettay; grandchildren Ian, Kobey, Logan, Cade, Kendall, Quinn and Zoe; nieces: Amy, Beth, Jenny, Angela, Megan, Missy; nephews Waylon, Tommy, Timmy, Travis, Teddy, and Billy; and special friends: Scotty and Suzann, Kimmie, Andy and Betsy.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral home with the funeral service to follow at 4:00 p.m. with Dean Blythe officiating. A dinner will be held following the service at the Hopedale American Legion in Hopedale, Ohio. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
