Donald Watson

Donald C. Watson, 85, of New Athens, died Monday, January 04, 2016 at Wheeling Hospital. He was born October 17, 1930 in New Athens, a son of the late James W. and Gussie Cannon Watson. Don was the former owner/operator of the Sinclair Service Station in New Athens. He was a mechanic at the Consolidation Coal Co. Lower Garage; and an employee of the Ohio Department of Transportation. He served as an Athens Twp. Trustee for 28 years and was a member of the Flushing Masonic Lodge. He was a member and trustee of the New Athens United Methodist Church and a trustee of the Franklin Museum. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons: John Edgar Watson and Donald Ellis Watson; a brother, Richard Watson and a sister, Carolyn Ballog and her husband Frank. Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years, Anna Belle Nash Watson; a daughter, Margaret (Dale) Edwards of Cadiz; three sons: Dan (Carla) Watson and David (Penny) Watson all of New Athens and Dennis (Shannan) Watson of St. Clairsville; a daughter-in-law, Connie Watson of Hopedale; nine grandchildren: T.J. (Charlie) Edwards, Piedmont, OH, Ashley (Dan) Agin, Bloomingdale, OH; D.J., Derek, Daniel and Devin Watson, all of New Athens, Alexis and Drake Watson and Delaney Kemp, all of St. Clairsville; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Jeanette (Wesley) Nichols of New Athens; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Wednesday, 2-4 and 6-8 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jon Little and Rev. William Burris officiating.
