Dessel Jackson

Dessel Leroy Jackson, Sr. was born April 25, 1914 in Mt. Pleasant, Ohio and was one of four children born to Edward Jackson and LaVenia Giles-Jackson. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Fannie Lucille Williams Jackson; two brothers, Arthur Ernest Jackson and Leslie Jackson; and one sister, Ola Shows. He lived in the Harrison/Jefferson County area his entire life; attended school in Georgetown, Ohio, and was a member of St. James A.M.E. Church of Cadiz, Ohio. He married Fannie Williams of Wheeling on July 25, 1935. He was a retired employee of Consolidation Coal Company and the Ohio Department of Transportation in Cadiz. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved children: three daughters, Mrs. LaVenia Clark, Mrs Nancy Rainbow and Mrs. Marian Lane, all of Wheeling, WV; three sons, Mr. Dessel Jackson, Jr. of Bridgeport, Mr. William Jackson of Cadiz, and Mrs. Leslie Jackson of Wheeling, WV. He will be mourned by his 13 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. Friends may call Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, 172 S. Main St., Cadiz, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 13, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at St. James A.M.E. Church, 300 East Market St., Cadiz, Ohio, with Rev. Kary Williams and Rev. Stephen Tucker officiating.
