Deanna Thompson

Deanna Thompson, 80, of New Philadelphia Ohio, formerly of Cadiz, passed away on January 31, 2022 following a courageous year long battle. She was born February 24, 1941 in New Athens Ohio, a daughter of the late George D. and Ann Hawk.

Deanna was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Cadiz, where she served as an Elder and sang in the church choir alongside her husband for 27 years. She was a member of the Cadiz American Legion Post #34 Auxiliary, Distaff, The Lady Elks of New Philadelphia, and was a volunteer for several entities throughout her lifetime. She was an avid Bridge player from a young age and spent most weekends playing cards with her closest friends and has spent the last several years building friendships and playing cards at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center.

Deanna was preceded in death by her parents and her husband George W. (“Bill”) Thompson.

Surviving are her children J.D. (Trish) Thompson of Wilmington, N.C., Paul (Jodie) Thompson of Hebron, Ohio, and Anne (Tim) Porter of Dennison, Ohio; 6 grandchildren Trevor, Griffin, Ashlyn, Alejandra, Gabe, and Blaike; 4 sisters Jackie (Cliff) Dunlap of Cadiz, Ohio, Gay (Bonnie) Hawk of Chesterfield, Virginia, Karen Williams of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Betty (Dale) Lee of Tappan Lake Ohio, along with several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a multitude of wonderful friends both lifelong and newly found.

Following Deanna’s wishes, the family will be holding a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 1:30 p.m. unitil 4:30 p.m. at the Wallace Lodge, located in Sally Buffalo Park, 43000 Industrial Park Road, Cadiz, with the assistance of Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home of Cadiz, Ohio. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
