Charles F. Manbeck, 79, of Cadiz, formerly of Austin, TX, died Friday, January 3, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He was born June 23, 1934 in Martins Ferry, OH, a son of the late Charles Martin and Mary Frances McKnight Manbeck. Chuck was an employee of Sherman Eckols of Eckols Constrution Company for over forty years, where he was a metal building constructor for McCoy Lumber Company, having built their facilities in TX, NM, AR, and OK. He loved tinkering with tools and cars. He was a Veteran of the United State Air Force. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Manbeck. Surviving are his wife Shirley Scalzo Manbeck; six children, Darla Sylvester of Round Rock, TX, Donna (Chris) Crawford of Lago Vista, TX, Debbie Pilent of Panama, OK, Mike Manbeck of Austin, TX, Brian Townsend of Freeport, OH and Betha (Jerry) Molina of Liberty Hill, TX; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth "Lib" Manbeck and a sister-in-law, Martha Manbeck, both of Cadiz, OH. A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 4-7 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, 172 S. Main St., Cadiz, OH. Online condolences may be made at www.clark-kirkland.com.
