Charles Melvin Harris, Sr., 58, Cadiz, died Thursday March 24, 2005 at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz. He was born July 18, 1946 in Dennison, Ohio a son of the late Wilford E. And Amanda Adeline LaPorte Harris. He was a member of the First Church of God in Cadiz; a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era; a retired employee of Consolidation Coal McElroy Mine after 24 years; a member of the Scio American Legion; an avid fisherman and loved garage sales. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, LeRoy Harris; 2 sisters, Esther Lachendro and Jean Taggart; and a grandson, Hunter Moore. He is survived by his wife Tammy Daugherty; a son Charlie (Staci) Harris of Cadiz; a daughter Angel Harris (Scott Moore) of Cadiz; 2 sisters; Pamela Tenley and Phyllis Parrish both of Cadiz; and 5 grandchildren: Jordan, Shae, Logan, T.J., and Marissa. Calling hours are Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Samuel Betts officiating.
