Charles Hamilton

Charles E. "Chuck" Hamilton, 77, of Cadiz, formerly of Unionport and Jewett, died Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Valley Hospice Care Center, North in Steubenville. He was born May 4, 1932 in Hopedale, a son of the late William and Edna Cale Hamilton. Chuck was a coal miner and the son of a coal miner. He worked at Y. & O. Coal Company Nelms # 1 mine near Hopedale. He was a member of the UMWA, Hopedale American Legion and the VFW, and was a Methodist by faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Newburn and an infant brother, William Russell Hamilton. Surviving are his wife of thirty four years, Ila Dyer Hamilton, two sons, Ronald Hamilton of Cadiz and Major (ret) Ken (friend, Cheryl) Hamilton of Galloway; three daughters, Sue (Kelly) Harriman of Jewett, Deb Mellinger of Waynesburg, OH, and Lori (friend, William) Hamilton of Jewett; two step-sons who considered him father, Lester (friend, Sandy) Patterson of Cadiz and David Patterson of Loudonville; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; a brother, Emmett (Shirley) Hamilton of Hopedale; and his beloved dog, Buddy. Friends may call Monday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Thomas Bullard officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrison County Humane Society or the Harrison County Dog Pound.
