Carol S. Raber

Carol S. Raber, 86, of Hopedale, Ohio, passed away on February 16, 2025, at the Harrison County Home surrounded by her family. She was born on June 28, 1938, in Steubenville, Ohio a daughter of the late Edwin and Mary Chaddock Stringer. 

Carol married her husband, Don, on June 8, 1957. They went on to have 4 children, then 4 grandchildren, and even a great grandson. She was a softball coach for her daughter, Linda, and enjoyed spending time with her family. Throughout her working career, Carol worked as a secretary at Bannock Coal Company. She was also a secretary at Cadiz High School. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Hopedale for many years. She was on the Harrison County Hospital Board of Directors for 30 years. Carol also served as the Green Township clerk for 25 years. She was also a member of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution. She enjoyed serving meals at the Hopedale Social Hall with her good friend, Lola Carman, for many years. In her later years, she loved to play cards, especially bridge! 

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her brothers, Donald Stringer and James Stringer, and sister-in-law and dear friend Kate Stringer. 

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Donald L. Raber; children, Patricia (Eric) Hedberg of St. Paul, Minnesota, Mark (Dara) Raber of Hopedale, Richard “Rick” (Ana) Raber of Columbus, Ohio and Linda (Jim) Little of Cadiz; grandchildren, Richard “Ricky” Raber, Ian Hedberg, Quentin (Miranda) Tilberg and Samantha (Christopher) Joyce; great grandson, Lincoln Joyce; special great-aunt, Kay Kennedy and many nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. at Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home in Cadiz, Ohio until the time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Statler officiating. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Hopedale. 

Carol’s family would like to thank the Harrison County Home for the incredible care and kindness they showed during her time there.
