Carl Laughrige

Carl Raymond Laughrige, 100, of Cadiz, formerly of Falmouth, Maine, died Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at his home in Cadiz, Ohio. He was born March 3, 1907 in Hopedale, Ohio a son of the late James H. and Frances R. Snyder Laughrige. Mr. Laughrige was a retired Branch Manager for Motors Insurance Corporation in Portland, Maine, a member of Woodfords Congregational Church, and a veteran of the Army serving in World War II. He enjoyed photography and travel in his retirement, having visited all fifty states and fifty five foreign countries. He was the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Portland Camera Club. He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife of 67 years, Letha Walker Laughrige, whom he married August 11, 1931; and 4 sisters: Isabelle Barker, Frances Rogers, Helen Dennis, and Dorma Dennis. He is survived by a sister, Anna Mae Dickinson and her husband Leslie of Cadiz, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation and service will be held at Jones, Rich and Hutchins Funeral Home Inc. 199 Woodford Street, Portland, Maine. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Falmouth, Maine.
