Calvin John “Sonny” Dicks

Calvin John “Sonny” Dicks, 81, of Bloomingdale, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Gables Care Center in Hopedale surrounded by his family. He was born August 28, 1942, in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of the late John Calvin and Katherine Karbolic Dicks. 

John was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and served as an elder for many years at the Cadiz Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was a hardworking Union Carpenter working out of Steubenville Local #186. He loved rooting for the Pittsburgh Sports teams over the years, enjoying both watching and especially listening to the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins. 

He was preceded in addition to his parents by a brother, James B. Dicks, and a sister, Marilyn A. Savoie. 

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Mary Ruth McHugh Dicks of Bloomingdale, a daughter, Amy Joelle (Scott) Wickham of Richmond, Ohio, Amber Jael (Justin) Sobota of Magna, Utah, and Adrianna Ruth (Jeremy) Williams of Bloomingdale, Ohio; 1 grandson, Gregory Scott Wickham II of Robinson Twp, Pennsylvania; a sister-in-law Monica Dicks of Industry, Pennsylvania; a niece, several nephews, cousins and friends. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cadiz Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. The family is being assisted by Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home, Cadiz, Ohio.
