C. Harold Johnson, 89, of Greensboro, NC, formerly of Columbus and New Athens, Ohio, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2005 in Greensboro. He was born March 25, 1916 in New Athens, OH, a son of the late Charles Conaway and Ola Jane McFadden Johnson. He retired from COBA/Select Sires, in Columbus, as advertising and promotion manager, after 40 years of service. He was a confirmed elder of the Presbyterian Church, past president of the Cross Creek Local School District, a life member of the NRA and the NAAB. Mr. Johnson was also a member of the Northwest United Methodist Church in Columbus, an affiliate of the Westover Church in Greensboro, NC, and was a professional livestock photographer and avid photographer of nature. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Thiergartner, who died Sept. 3, 2005. Surviving are his wife of fifty-nine years, Catharin Roby Johnson; two daughters, Marita Carter and her husband, Charles of Greensboro, NC and Jana Barragan and her husband, David of Columbus; three grandsons, Jeremy Carter and wife, Jessica, Austin Carter and Benjamin Barragan, one granddaughter, Corrie Barragan; one nephew, Dennis (Chris) Thiergartner of Dublin, OH; one niece, Mary Ann (Horace) Briggs; and one cousin, Frances L. Lawver. Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 8, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Longview Cemetery in New Athens, Ohio with Rev. Dr. David Rice officiating. Local arrangements are by Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences may be made at www.clark-kirkland.com.
