Betty Lee Knisely, 73, Cadiz, died Saturday, November 6, 2004 at Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, West Virginia. She was born June 23, 1931 in Pattons Run, Martins Ferry, Ohio a daughter of the late Andrew and Nettie Williams Carpenter. She attended Asbury Chapel United Methodist Church, a former employee of Scio Pottery Company, a member of Hopedale American Legion Post #682 Auxiliary and Wheeling Aerie #344 F.O.E. She was preceded in death in addition to her parents; by her husband Lester Sherman Porter in 1977; a grandson Paul Porter; a sister Mary Jane Carpenter; and 3 brothers: William, Daniel and Andrew Carpenter. She is survived by 3 sons: Nick Carpenter of Cadiz, Ted Porter of Hopedale, and James Porter of Cadiz; 4 daughters: Nettie Smith, Debbie Wedlake, Vickie Porter, and Tina Colson all of Cadiz; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 3 sisters: Rose Sasak of Adena, Shirley Bariscka of Hartsville, South Carolina, and Martha Morgan of New Alexandria, Ohio; 4 brothers: John Carpenter of Holdredge, Nebraska, Robert Carpenter of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Alvin Carpenter of Wyoming; and Donald Carpenter of Smithfield, Ohio. Calling hours are Wednesday, November 10, 3-5 and 7-9 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz where funeral service will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Hopedale, Ohio. The memorial guestbook may be signed at www.clark-kirkland.com.
