Bertha Catherine Manbeck, 74, of Hopedale, Ohio, formerly of Jewett, died Saturday, November 5, 2005 at the Carriage Inn of Cadiz. She was born September 14, 1931 in Cadiz, a daughter of the late Raymond and Mary VanNest Ross. She was a Presbyterian by faith. She was a former employee of the Scio Pottery Co., and a barmaid at the Two Pine Inn, The Ranch and Club 22, all near Cadiz. She was a former member of Cadiz FOE Auxiliary, Aerie 2162. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dean D. Manbeck in 1997; three brothers, John, Richard, and James Ross, and a great granddaughter, Sara. Surviving are three sons, Dan Manbeck of Cadiz, Dennis Manbeck of Dennison, and Rick Manbeck of Irving, TX; four daughters, Jane Fletcher of Flushing, Sandy Yoho of Cadiz, Stephanie Gray of Hopedale, and Nancy Brietinger of AZ; a brother, William Ross of Jewett; 17 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. Friends may call Tuesday, 6-9 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, where funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 9 at 11:00 a.m. with Dean Blythe officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Church Cemetery, near Jewett. Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice, 380 Summit Ave., Steubenville, Ohio 43952.
