Bernice Hawkins

Bernice Elliott Hawkins, 84, of Hopedale, died Sunday at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz. She was born November 18, 1929 in Hopedale, a daughter of the late John and Martha Martin Elliott. Mrs. Hawkins was a former employee of the FBI in Washington, DC and attended the Hopedale Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Elliott and a sister, Vivian Barkhurst. Surviving are her daughter, Debra Cassidy (Larry); two grandsons, Larry Cassidy, Jr. (Jessica) and Ray Cassidy, all of Cadiz; two great grandchildren, Hayden and Honor; a sister, Mary Lou Chaney of Hopedale; a niece, Lou Ann Dowdle (Jim); a nephew, Mike Chaney (Ellie); and two great nieces, Abby and Lindsey. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Cadiz Union cemetery followed by a memorial service on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Hopedale Church of Christ. Dean Blythe will officiate.
