Barbara Wheeler

Barbara V. Wheeler, 73 of Cadiz died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, Ohio. She was born October 10, 1939 in Cadiz, Ohio a daughter of the late Charles Gross, II and Mary Rudolph Gross. Barbara was a member of St. James AME Church in Cadiz where she sang in the Gospel Expressions Choir and was a member of the Zella Strother Missionary Society. She was also a member of the former Arch Jackson V.F.W. Post #6564 and V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post #3072. She was the first meter reader for the Village of Cadiz. She was preceded in death in addition to her parents, by a son-in-law Ernie Hardwick and a stepson Marvin Wheeler. She is survived by her husband Luther Wheeler of Cadiz; 2 daughters: Gwen Hardwick and Etta (Bill) Blanchard of Cadiz; a son, Leander (L.B.) (Martty) Brooks, III of Cadiz; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren; a brother Charles (Joanne) Gross, III of Cadiz; 2 sisters: Marjorie Johnson and Charlotte (Fritz) Jones of Cadiz; and her stepchildren: Martin Wheeler, Cindy Jones, Constance Jones and Cherry Bradley. Calling hours will be held Friday, March 15 from 2-4 and 6-9 at St. James AME Church, 300 East Market Street, Cadiz where funeral service will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. William Lewis and Rev. Bernard Gaiton officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery. Arrangements by Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, Ohio.
