Arvella M. Lewis, 89, of Lexington, KY, formerly of Cadiz and New Athens, Ohio, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Lexington. She was born December 4, 1912 in a small town in Eastern Ohio, a daughter of the late, Frederick and Anna Mae Widger Dreyer. She was a member of Scott United Methodist Church in Cadiz and was a former cook at the Morgan-Meigs Elementary School in McConnellsville, Ohio. She was also a former Girl Scout Leader and Sunday School Teacher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, William and Robert Dreyer and a sister, Eleanor Henderson. Surviving are her husband, George E. Lewis; 2 daughters, Shirley Hartman of Vancouver, WA and Connie Stewart of Lexington, KY; 2 sons, George Lewis of Concord, NC and John Lewis of Lima, OH; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson. Friends may call Saturday, June 29 from 4-7 p.m. and Sunday, June 30 from 3-7 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Monday, July 1, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Hooker officiating. Burial will follow at Longview Cemetery, New Athens, Ohio.
