Arlene J. Bielak, 81, of Hampton, Virginia, formally of Steubenville and Freeport, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on December 2, 2009 after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma and other illnesses. Arlene was born in Somerset Township, Belmont, Ohio of February 25, 1928 to the late Burl Cross and Eva Pickens Cross Gibbons. Arlene along with her husband Adam Bielak whom she married October 29, 1974, owned and operated D&A Cleaners in Steubenville for many years. She had been a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and later became a member of Hopedale Church of Christ. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her other father, John J. Gibbons; four brothers: Orthan, Harl, Delford Cross and Clessan Gibbons; and 3 sisters: Opal Emery, Hilda Merritt, and Lillian Ulik. Surviving are her sisters: Martha (Don) McCrea of Hampton, Virginia and Goldie (Jim Bill) Stark of Cadiz; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and great nephews. Arlene loved to cook and do needle work. She will be missed very much by her family and friends. Friends will be received by the family at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz Thursday, December 10, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. with Dean Blythe officiating.
