Anna Carson

Anna Beall Carson, 76, Hopedale died Wednesday February 2, 2011 at Valley Hospice, Steubenville, Ohio. She was born May 5, 1934 a daughter of the late Frank R. and Clara Beall McMillen. She will be dearly missed by her husband Richard of 52 years, her family, and many friends. She was a member of the Hopedale Presbyterian Church and the Cadiz High School Class of 1952. She graduated from Ohio University and was retired from East Ohio Speech and Hearing Center where she was a Speech Therapist for Harrison Community Hospital and Harrison County MRDD. Ann and her husband owned the Carson Company in Cadiz. She was currently the Regent of the Moravian Trail Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also active in the Genealogy Society. She was a board member of Belmont Technical College and in 2009 received the Heritage Tree Award for her many years of service and dedication. She was a life member of the Harrison County Historical Society and of the Harrison County Humane Society. She was a past board member of the Harrison Hills City School District and a member of the Cadiz High School Alumni Association. She also served as a past member of the Hopedale Village Council and active in local politics. Ann was a founding member of the Hopedale E-Squad. Anna Beall was well known locally as a lifelong horsewoman who was a founder of the Diamond Horseshoe 4-H Saddle Club, advisor for 18 years and a 4-H Horse Show Judge. Another passion was traveling with Journeys By Joyce and Jim with her husband and local girl friends and taking trips to Pawley's Island S.C. with her beach bunch school-girl friends. Ann is survived by her husband Richard, her daughter Barbara and her husband Eric Glaff of Jupiter, Florida; son Tom and wife Dawn, son D.P. and wife Tina all of Hopedale; three grandchildren: Cami, Ava and Zane. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Estelle Walker. Friends will be received at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, 172 South Main Street, Cadiz on Friday, from 4:00-8:00 p.m where funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ray Ellenbaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Hopedale, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Harrison County, P.O. Box 404, Cadiz, Ohio 43907.
