Allen West

Allen E. ''Big Al'' West, Sr., 50, Cadiz, died Tuesday January 15, at Harrison Community Hosptial, Cadiz. He was born August 3, 1951 in Cadiz, a son of Wayne West and Vivian Jackson West Wilson. He was a member of St. James AME Church, Cadiz, a veteran of the Marines having served during the Viet Nam era and a former horse trainer in the Cadiz area. Surviving are a daughter, Dawn Marie West, Cadiz; 3 Sons: Alan E. Jr., John Thomas, and Tyler William West, all of Cadiz; a stepson Michael Moreland of Cadiz; stepmother, Dorothy Gross of Gahanna; brothers and sisters: Deborah Ramsey and Kelly Mason both of Cadiz, Laura Jones of Steubenville, Jeanette and Tina Strother both of Mansfield, TX., Thomas West of Canton and John West of Homosassa Springs, Fla.; step brothers and step sisters: David Gross of Wheeling, Drew Gross of California, Deanna and Donna Gross both of Columbus, and Georgianna Gross of Cadiz; the mothers of his children: Foncetta Johnson and Kimberly Moreland; a close friend, Marshall Ramsey; a grandson, Alexander Paul West; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at the St. James AME Church, Cadiz with Rev. D'Wain Wales officiating.
