Alice Jane "Janie" Roberts

Alice Jane “Janie” Roberts, 75, of Moorefield, formerly of Mt. Hope and Oak Hill, West Virginia, passed away suddenly at her home on June 14, 2024. She was born in Charleston, West Virginia on July 19, 1948, a daughter of the late Bejamin M. Sr. and Helen Faye Smith. 

Janie worked as a legal secretary for most of her life. She also was an amazing cook and avid baker, most notably remembered by her beloved candies that she made. She also enjoyed reading and crocheting in her free time. She loved animals, especially her cats and her dog, Mr. Anthony. 

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her former husband, Roger Roberts; daughter, Sara Jane Roberts; son, William Mark Roberts; brothers, Benjamin M. Smith, Jr. and Robert Lee Smith; and sister, Patricia Ann Colebank. 

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Leila Helen (Smith) Kilgore, Benjamin M. Smith III, Leigh Ann Colebank, and Robert Lee Colebank; sister-in-law, Brenda Smith; beloved neighbors and adopted family, Jonathan (Becky) White, Jordan (Rebecca) White and family, Spencer (Kyley) White and family, Stuart (Haley) White and family, and Savanna and Dahlia White. 

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
