Alice R. Cope, 94, Cadiz, died Friday, July 30, at her home in Cadiz. She was born October 8, 1909 in Cadiz, a daughter of the late Chester Rogers and Della Delora Chambers Rogers. She was a devout Christian and a faithful member of the East Warren Street Church of Christ in Cadiz. Alice graduated from Franklin High School in New Athens in 1930, where she was Captain of the Varsity Girls Basketball Team. She was a member of the former Harrison Chapter #353, Order of the Eastern Star where she served as past Worthy Matron. She was preceded in death in addition to her parents; by her husband, Lloyd ''Copie'' Cope on June 25, 1981; 2 brothers and a great grandson. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother to her daughter, Annette Shelley of Columbus; her 3 grandchildren: Scott (Alicia) Shelley, Keisha (Curt) Underwood, and Brianna (Jerry) Mudd all of Columbus; and her 5 great grandchildren: Lucas, Brendon, Amber, Christopher, and Melanie all of Columbus. Calling hours are Tuesday, August 3, 2-4 and 7-9 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, where funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. with Evang. Charles Newell officiating.
