Agnes V. Bertz, 92, of Cadiz, died Thursday at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz. She was born June 26, 1915 in Short Creek Township, Harrison County, Ohio, a daughter of the late George and Juanita Hendershott Sickle. She was a retired employee of the Scio Pottery Company, a member of Scott United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Lisle Jones Circle, an active member of Democratic Women's Club, and the No Name Club, and she was a volunteer at the USO Canteen at the Dennison Railroad Station during World War II. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Foster Sickle, a sister, Merle Tescona and her husband, James Bertz in 2002. They were married December 10, 1932. Surviving are two sons, Dr. James Bertz and his wife, Sandy of Scottsdale, AZ and Dr. Michael Bertz and his wife, Carol of Denver, CO; six grandchildren, Robert, Michael, Krista, James, Stephen and Jennifer; seven great grandchildren, Ashley and Alexandra, MacKenzie, Madeline, Max, Tenley, and Addison; two brothers, Ralph Sickle of Cleveland and Robert Sickle of Adena; and a sister, Seleka Pickana of Emerson. Friends may call Sunday, 12-4 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Scott United Methodist Church, Cadiz, with Rev. Richard Hasley officiating.
